Success Story

The Hechinger Collection in Washington, D.C., acquired Susan Dorothea White’s sculpture It Cuts Both Ways. The work was exhibited at the National Building Museum in Washington alongside works by artists including George Rickey Abbott, Jim Dine, Fernand Léger, James Rosenquist and Tinguelly until January 2000.

Inspired by the Australian reconciliation process and the dual meaning of the idiom “it cuts both ways”, the sculpture addresses equality between the sexes and races, and the interdependence of people's actions. White, a long-standing member of The Sculptors Society, was congratulated on the acquisition.
