The Buhl Collection, New York

This is the version of Stretching the imagination with life-size hands, which was commissioned by Henry Mendelssohn Buhl when he saw the small version. The idiom is expressed through hands literally stretching a face to create elongated hollows in the eye sockets and cheeks, and a wide smiling mouth.
