Les Cotton lived in an old stone house at the end of Wyman Street, the same street where we lived, on the outskirts of Broken Hill. Les and Dad were good friends. Both were Rover enthusiasts and would spend weekends together under their cars, leading my mother to call herself a ‘Rover widow.’ I played tennis with Mr. Cotton’s granddaughters when they stayed during school holidays. They both became artists, Anne Furguson and Judy Cotton. The house where we once lived at 108 Wyman St was demolished a long time ago before the Pro Hart Gallery was established there.
