Finalist – Sculptures @ Bayside Acquisition Prize.

The sculpture is inspired by the universal idiom "stretching the imagination". The idea is to stimulate thought and reflection and to evoke humour, appealing to people of all backgrounds, cultures and ages. Realistic hands that are three times life-size literally stretch a face into a broad smiling mouth, forming elongated spaces in the eye sockets and cheeks. The views through the spaces give a sense of the unrestricted nature of human imagination. The spaces allow the bronze to merge with the surrounding environment. Horizontal ridges on the back of the sculpture convey the tension of stretching and relate to the wind and water.
