New Art Group in Exhibition

Of special interest at an exhibition of paintings at John Martin’s are the works of six members of the newly formed Wilyama Art Society, Broken Hill.

Each one a landscape depicting the district, they were painted by Susan White, May Harding, Alan Cumpston, Pro Hart, Sam Byrne, and John Gregory. Miss Josephine Heysen will open the display this afternoon. It will be on view until next Tuesday. It has been arranged by the Airlines of South Australia, in conjunction with the Royal SA Society of Arts and the Contemporary Art Society.

South Australian artists exhibiting are Jacqueline Hick, Barbara Harvey, David Dridan, Adam Kriegel, Mervyn Smith, and Malcolm Gray.

Among those attending are Sir Edward and Lady Morgan, Mr and Mrs D. P. Williams, Mr and Mrs A. M. MacRae, Mr and Mrs R. G. Appleyard, Mr and Mrs Sydney Hamilton, Prof. and Mrs R. A. Jensen, Mr and Mrs T. R. N. Lothian, Dr and Mrs A. D. Reid, Mrs F. Villeneuve Smith, accompanied by her son, Mr Francis Villeneuve Smith, Mr and Mrs A. F. Sierp, Mr and Mrs R. S. Bennett, and Mrs F. L. Voce.

Also present will be the U.S. Vice-Consul, Mr Robert Smith and Mrs Smith, Mr and Mrs S. R. Day, Mrs E. E. Jolly, Mrs Millward Grey, Mr T. Grundy, with his sister, Miss Dorothy Grundy, Mrs Harold Burston, Mrs V. F. Miller, and Miss Phemie Armstrong.
