Intergrafik 84 [InterGrafik 84: International Triennial of Socially Engaged Graphic Art in the German Democratic Republic] brought together more than 900 artists from more than 60 nations, with more than 3,000 works presented in Berlin. The catalogue preface describes the triennial as an international forum for graphic art committed to peace, humanism and social progress, emphasising the social responsibility of artists and the capacity of art to contribute to understanding between peoples.

Susan White represented Australia with three lithographs: Chess (1982) (illus.), Die Willy-Willy Frau (1983) and Der Geist von Kabbarli (Daisy Bates) (1983).
